๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ Track Day Insurance โ€” Protect Yourself

Your regular car insurance does NOT cover track use. Whether you're driving your car or theirs, here's how to stay covered.

โš ๏ธ Why You Need Track Insurance
Standard auto insurance policies exclude coverage during track events. That means if you crash at a track day, you're paying out of pocket โ€” and repairs from high-speed incidents can easily hit $10,000-$50,000+. Track day insurance fills this gap, covering physical damage from the moment you enter track grounds until you leave.
๐Ÿš— Bringing Your Car
  • Physical damage โ€” covers collision/crash on track
  • Paddock coverage โ€” protection while parked at the event
  • Towing & transport โ€” getting your car home after an incident
  • Agreed value โ€” you set the car's worth, no depreciation games
  • Mods covered โ€” custom parts, paint, aftermarket upgrades
  • Instructor included โ€” most cover your instructor driving your car
  • Cost: $150โ€“$500 per event
๐Ÿ”‘ Driving Someone Else's Car
  • Liability coverage โ€” up to $2M for damage to others/property
  • Rental/loaner protection โ€” if you damage a borrowed or rented car
  • Exotic car coverage โ€” Ferrari, Lambo, Porsche (may need underwriting)
  • Experience provider waivers โ€” read carefully, know your liability
  • "Drive theirs" events often include basic coverage in price
  • Additional liability โ€” consider for high-speed events
  • Cost: varies by provider and vehicle value

Getting Started

Everything you need to know for your first time on track

๐ŸŽ“ New to Track Days? Start Here

Everything you need to know to get on track for the first time.

01

Choose Your Experience

Bring your car: SCCA Track Night is the easiest entry. Drive theirs: Xtreme Xperience or Porsche Experience Center โ€” no car needed.

02

Find a Track Near You

Use the map above to find tracks in your region. Filter by "Bring Yours" or "Drive Theirs" based on what you want.

03

Register Early

Events fill up fast โ€” especially popular tracks. Register via the organizer's website. SCCA opens registration monthly.

04

Prep Your Car

Fresh brake fluid, good pads, proper tire pressure, remove loose items. Most events require a tech inspection.

05

Get a Helmet

Snell SA2015 or SA2020 rated. Some events offer loaners. Budget $200โ€“$400 for a quality lid.

06

Show Up & Have Fun

Arrive early, attend the driver's meeting, listen to your instructor, and focus on smooth inputs. Speed comes with experience.

๐ŸŽ๏ธ New to Go-Karts?

Go-karting is the easiest way to experience competitive racing โ€” no experience or equipment needed.

01

Just Show Up

Indoor karting is arrive-and-drive. Walk in, sign a waiver, get a helmet, and you're racing within minutes. No reservation needed at most venues.

02

Know the Rules

Listen to the safety briefing. No bumping. Follow the flags. Faster karts pass on designated sides. Most places are strict about clean racing.

03

Smooth Is Fast

The fastest karters are smooth on the wheel and pedals. Brake before the turn, turn in, then accelerate out. Jerky inputs slow you down.

04

Level Up with Leagues

Most venues offer league racing โ€” a multi-week season with points, standings, and a championship. It's the best way to get into real competitive racing.

๐Ÿ๏ธ New to Motorcycle Track Days?

Track days are the safest way to explore your bike's limits โ€” no cars, no gravel, no intersections.

01

Choose Your Path

Own a bike? Sign up for a Novice group track day (N2, STT, TrackDaz). No bike? California Superbike School or YCRS provide everything.

02

Gear Up

Full leathers (one or two-piece with zipper), gauntlet gloves, full-face helmet (Snell M2020+), and boots above the ankle. Most orgs require back protectors.

03

Prep Your Bike

Fresh coolant (or Water Wetter โ€” many tracks ban glycol), tape your mirrors, safety-wire your oil drain bolt, zip-tie brake lever. Tech inspection is mandatory.

04

Start in Novice

Novice group has no passing in corners, control riders to follow, and classroom sessions. It's structured, safe, and the best way to build speed gradually.
